| On September 6, 2004 our world changed forever. Nicholas was a healthy, energetic16 year old and just starting his junior year in high school. He proudly wore #58 as a member of his varsity football team. His blue football socks were worn almost everyday to show his team spirit. He had played in both the varsity and junior varsity games over the Labor Day weekend. We didn't know that would be the last time he would play football, or be alive. Since the age of 7, in both Washington and Pennsylvania, football was his passion. For Nick, there would never be too much football. A son, brother, cousin, nephew, and grandson. A student, teammate, and best friend. Suddenly we had to try and understand terms like Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). It is our hope that the information and services provided by Nick’s Foundation will help keep another family and community from the heartache we have experienced.
